HOPE at ACOG
The HOPE team was honored to present at the 2025 ACOG Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting, where our medical student Donessa Jenae Colley presented the poster, Impact of Doula Care on Social Determinants of Health: Doulas as a Tool to Address Non‑Medical Healthcare Disparities Within the Health Care System. The study examined how community-based doula care, through the HOPE program, can positively influence nonclinical social determinants of health for birthing people in public hospitals. There is great potential for doula support to mitigate systemic inequities by offering culturally responsive care, advocating for patients, and bridging gaps in access and support that traditional medical care alone may not address.
