The HOPE team was invited to participate in the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s 2023 workshop, Advancing Diagnostic Excellence in Maternal Health Care. This national convening brought together leading clinicians, researchers, birth workers, and health system experts to examine challenges in diagnosing maternal health conditions and to identify strategies to reduce preventable harm. The workshop explored key issues such as disparities in maternal morbidity, gaps across the maternity care continuum, and the need for stronger collaboration between clinical teams and community-based support models in order to advance diagnostic excellence and improve safety and equity in maternal health.
